Hillsville Police search for man in possible missing child case

// News // DC // VA // Roanoke
HILLSVILLE, VA --

The Hillsville Police Department is asking for the public's help to find a man in connection with a possible missing child case.

Investigators say workers at the Quality Inn Hotel in Hillsville found a handwritten note claiming to be from a child, who said they were "missing, and the cops are looking for me."  The note claimed to be from Jasmine hines.

However, officers say a search of national, state, and local databanks turned up no child missing by that name.

Police say Pierre Morand, of Lachute, Quebec (canada), checked into the Quality Inn on Wednesday, November 28th, and rented a room for one person.  Surveillance video showed Morand had a young girl with him.  The video also showed that Morand drove off from the hotel in a white minivan, with what looked like two bicycles on a rack on the back of the minivan.

Take a look at surveillance picture of Moran with this article.  If you've seen him, call Captain Jason Hawks or Investigator Junior Alderman with the Hillsville Police Department at (276) 728-2251 or the Carroll County Sheriff's Office at (276) 728-4146.
