A 33-year-old Norfolk man who had a warrant for failing to return library materials ended up getting arrested for having methamphetamine.
On Sunday at 9:40 a.m., the Norfolk Police Division received a report of an assault occurring at 706 S. Third St., said Norfolk Police Chief Bill Mizner.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the people involved and determined no physical assault had occurred.
One of the people involved, identified as Russell K.
Greenwood, 33, Norfolk, was found to have an active Madison County warrant for failure to pay fine and costs, Mizner said.
Greenwood was placed under arrest and booked into the Norfolk City Jail. During the booking process, a small baggie containing a white substance was located inside Greenwood’s wallet, Mizner said.
The white substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine. In addition to the warrant, Greenwood was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, the police chief said.
Greenwood was later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
