Veterans Gather in Lynchburg on Pearl Harbor Anniversary

// News // DC // VA // Lynchburg

Lynchburg, VA - The rain didn't get in the way for veterans gathering at Monument Terrace in Lynchburg to honor the Pearl Harbor anniversary.

Every Friday since 2001 the group of men and women have been gathering at the spot to support our troops.

This Friday marked a special day for several World War II veterans as they reflected on Pearl Harbor.

Though most were just boys when the bombing happened, they were still affected by the attack, and our involvement in the War.

"I had to be about 14 or 15 years old when Pearl Harbor came on. I was still in high school. So it's a great day. We won, after all," said Herbert Sisk, a WWII veteran.

Sisk says there really aren't too many Pearl Harbor survivors around these days. He says it's up to veterans like himself to keep their memory alive.
