Richmond teen tased in face after getting off city bus

A 16-year-old girl from Richmond was tased in the face by a group of girls, after an encounter on a city bus. Now, the victim is suffering severe wounds to her eyes. She and her mother have asked us to keep their identities concealed.
The young victim says she was being heckled on the bus by another group of teens, last Saturday night. When she and her friends got off at their stop on Broad Street, she was forced to defend herself against a swarm of girls trying to beat her down.
"I'm just thanking God that she's walking, and living through this and healing through this," said the victim's mother.
The victim says one of the boys in the other group stole her purse and cell phone. When she tried to retrieve it, a girl in the other group punched her in the face. The teen says two more girls jumped in, attacking her.
Most of the victim's friends were too scared to intervene. Other people on the street simply stared.
"For people to actually stand by and not do anything, that's even worse," said the mother.
The victim says the beating escalated after several minutes of non-stop blows. One of the girls then shocked her right eye with a taser gun. The girl tased her three more times to the rest of her body.
"When they (the other group of girls) saw they couldn't drag her down to the ground, that's when the taser came out," continued the mother.
A policeman passing by intervened. However, the group of girls scattered.
"I can't even fathom what I want to happen to these girls," added the victim's mom.
Her daughter is now left to nurse her wounds, both physically and emotionally.
"It's still going to take some time because we're both traumatized," the mom said.
Richmond police were limited in what they were able to disclose about this assault, but say at least one arrest was made.
