CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Loved ones of Chris Coleman gathered off Hopkins Road in Chesterfield Thursday evening, remembering the young man who they say lit up everyone's world. Coleman, 20, was killed Tuesday night, when he was hit by two cars as he crossed Hopkins Road, by Little Creek Lane. One of those drivers stayed. The driver of the second vehicle, a brown truck, fled and has yet to be found.

Friends and family lit candles in Coleman's memory for four hours, illuminating a wooden cross which they had placed near the roadside. They promised that the tragic scenario that took Coleman's life wouldn't overshadow the light he brought to so many.

Coleman's mother and father were embraced by many pairs of loving arms.

"That's my son. My only son, my namesake... gone," said Earl Coleman, Chris's father.

"(Chris) would somehow make me laugh, along with everyone else. He was just that cool," said friend John Campbell.

Coleman's friends nicknamed him "animal" because of his elated personality.

"He just brought the life out of everybody. He touched everybody, with how he was, and how crazy he was. He lived up to his name and then some," said friend Cyril Stutz.

"Happy-go-lucky. He tried not to let anything get him down," said Earl Coleman, of his son.

Coleman was part of a special family, who call themselves the Virginia Black Hearts. They say their bond is one of acceptance, and rejecting drugs.

"(Chris) is a piece of our family that we can't get back," said Stutz.

Coleman's family says they are waiting for answers as to how such a young life was taken.

"This stretch of road is very dark. The speed limit needs to be changed...or more lights (added). Something needs to be done," continued Earl Coleman.

As investigators continue to search for the second driver, and changes are slowly made at this intersection, the grieving will continue, over the man who had more than one nickname.

"My biscuit… I call him biscuit," added Earl Coleman.

Police are still looking for the driver who hit Chris Coleman and fled. This was the fifth crash at Hopkins Road at Little Creek Lane in the last three years.

Kevin Durant's Giant Back Tattoo May (or May Not) Include Misspelling

Others were simply surprised because they'd assumed Durant was tattoo-free because they'd never...
