Type of City and Homes Available: New Carrollton was incorporated in 1953, and its population increased 339% between 1960 and 1970. It is a well-laid-out residential community with apartments, detached homes, and condominiums. An award winning community for beaurification efforts, New Carrollton is a well-treed and homey place in which to live, yet convenient to Washington and adjacent to the Beltway.

Development of the Metro station office park is being carefully monitored through the County transit district overlay zone concept. IRS National Offict Building (Metroview) will be erected by 1996, with an estimated employment of over 4,400. Homes range from $110,000 to condominiums from $65,000 to $80,000; and apartments rent from $600 to $800 per month.

Tax Situation: Owner-occupied homes are assessed at 40% of full cash value. 5% amusement/admissions tax.

Public Transportation: Metrorail station (time to D.C., 15): minutes, MARC train to Washington, Baltimore and points north 4-5 times, a.m. and p.m. weekdays.

Public Facilities and Services: Electricity, gas, water and sewer to entire community. Trash collected twice a week; special bulk pickup weekly. Recycling once a week by county. Police protection by county police force (173 officer;) from Hyattsville station, augmented by contract police, 3 officers for New Carrollton.

Public Schools: 3 elementary (K-6), I middle (7-8), I special center, 3 high schools nearby.

Private and Parochial Schools: Catholic elementary just outside the city, Protestant schools in nearby areas.

Places of Worship: I Baptist, I Episcopal, I Moravian.

Organizations: Boys and Girls Club, Democratic Club, 4-H, Garden Club, Ham Radio Club, Homemakers Club, Jaycees, Knights of Columbus, League of Women Voters, Men's Club, Republican Club, Rotary, Senior Citizens Clubs and others.

Recreation Facilities: The Weinbach Park is situated next to the Community recreation club with pool; 28-acre city park; 4 lighted tennis courts and a hockey court, 9 city playgrounds, 17 baseball diamonds, 3 football fields; I jogging course. Park and Planning Commission holds classes at various locations in town.
