Oxon Hill

Type of Community and Homes Available: Qxon Hill, a residential community, was setded in 1667 and was originally called "Oxford on the Hill" because the terrain seemed similar to that surrounding Oxford University in England. John Hanson, first President of the Congress of the Confederacy, is buried here. There are also several churches over a hundred years old. The Qxon Hill Manor, an historical site, is located south of the Capital Beltway. Rosecroft Raceway, beloved by followers of the Sport of Kings, is also here.

The community is bounded by D.C. and the Pocomac River on north and west. Wheeler, Brinkley and Temple Hills roads on east and Tinkers Creek and Piscataway Creek, on south. Washington and Virginia are easily accessible via the Capital Beltway. New detached sin gle-family homes range from $124,000 to $220,000. Resales of detached units range from $90,000 to over $200,000. Townhouses arc $ 110,000 and up. Many rcntal apartments, ranging from $600 to $900.
